this project in one word: crazy.

i love taco bell. i really really love taco bell. this project allowed me to take a much deeper dive into one of my favorite companies with my best friend, and over an absolutely insane course of events, we ended up getting posted on taco bell’s instagram!

let’s get into it.

taco bell’s menu is constantly changing, bringing in new menu items for everyone to love. however, a lot of customers feel like taco bell isn’t listening to them as they remove more classic options from the menu. we’re here to bring them back.

welcome to taco throwback.

with our research, we found five specific items that customers were missing the most.

the beefy fritos burrito, released 2018
the double decker taco, released 1995
the mexican pizza, released 1988
the fiesta potatoes, released 2005*
the quesarito, released 2014

based upon this, we decided to launch an influencer marketing campaign allowing fans of taco bell to vote for what menu items they wanted to bring back.

over the course of a month-long campaign, each influencer will encourage their followers to the throwback microsite to vote for their favorite item and purchase exclusive merch for the event.

campaign.

the campaign will have two main channels:

the influencers, encouraging their followers to travel to the microsite and vote for their favorite items.

and taco bell’s instagram, posting throwback enneagram-style posts highlighting the release of the items alongside their typical user-generated content.

this was created as a project for socl 320: lifecycle marketing at the savannah college of art and design, nov. 2020. you can find kylie marquez, my partner for this project, here.

*this means that it was also made before they brought potatoes back to the menu in march of 2021, and the mexican pizza in 2022. good job, taco bell. (and thank u doja <3)
